When mechanical interfaces, electrical connectivity, and reliable fastening must coexist in a compact component, multi-insert overmolding is a proven solution. Initial Situation

Conventional plastic housings often require additional assembly steps—fasteners, contact elements, or separate mounting parts—which increases:

  • Insert concept: robust locating and fixation of multiple inserts to prevent shifting during molding

  • Tooling & process design: gating/flow considerations around inserts, stable cycle parameters, and demolding strategy

  • Industrialization readiness: planning for automated insert feeding/handling and in-process verification where needed

  • Validation approach: sampling, dimensional checks, and process window confirmation to ensure series stability
